Intracavity laser spectroscopy of intermediate chemical species in gas phase. monoxides and mononitrides of transition metals.

Abstract

An intracavity laser method for obtaining the multiline electronic spectra of intermediate chemical species has been developed. This method has been applied to study the absorption stectra of monoxides and mononitrides formed by interaction between the tetrahalides of transition metals with oxygen and nitrogen. Kinetics of monoxide and mononitride formation has been studied. New bands have been detected and recorded in their electronic- vibrational- rotational spectra. This result has enabled the calculation of molecular constants which have not been known hitherto.
