Sorption of carbon aromatic acids by polyurethane foams

Abstract

Sorption of benzoic, salicylic, p-oxybenzoic, gallic, gippuric and acetyl-salicylic acids by polyurethane foams (PUF) in dependence acid-base properties, hydrophobicity of molecule and structure of polyurethane’s link was investigated. It’s shown that linear correlation between distribution coefficients and hydrophobicity (Hansh parametr) can be observed for a set of acids with similar acid-base properties. A regression equations connecting distribution coefficients of acids by PUF with their hydrophobicity parameter and pKa values were suggested. The sorption mechanism is suggested.
