The influence of the sulfonatingagenton the synthesis and ion-chromatographic properties of the sulfonated
poly(styrene-divinylbenzene) copolymers with high power of cross-linking
Abstract
The
porous PS-DVB resin beads were functionalized by sulfonation with
chlorosulfonic acid at the different of conditions to produce sulfonated resins
with exchange capacity from 0.19 to 1.80 mequiv/g.
The effect of
the reaction conditions on the degree
of sulfonation was investigated.
The technique of the direct sulfonation of PS-DVB matrices with chlorosulfonic
and sulfuric acid as sulfonated agents was compared.
The
ion-chromatographic behavior of a mixture of inorganic and organic cations on the resins
obtained was investigated. The retention factor can be adjusted in wide range by controlling of the degree of resin sulfonation.
