Oxidation of Copper by 2-Furfuryl Chloride in Dimethylformamide without Atmospheric Oxygen and in the Presence of Atmospheric Oxygen

Abstract

Oxidation of Copper by 2-Furfuryl Chloride in Dimethylformamide without Atmospheric Oxygen and in the Presence of Atmospheric Oxygen proceeds through the mechanism of single electron transfer with the formation of 2,2’-difurfuryl and complex compounds of copper (I). In the presence of air oxygen the reaction proceeds through the mechanism of single electron transfer with the formation complex compounds of copper (II).
