Experimental and theoretical study of the interaction between magnesium particles and carbon tetrachloride

Abstract

Reactions of polyhalidemethanes (CCl4, CHCl3, CFCl3) with magnesium particles were investigated in low temperature cocondensates. Experimentally obtained absorption bands are in a good agreement with the quantum chemical data. The possible mechanism of the reaction was suggested based on ab initio quantum chemical calculations for magnesium particles with carbon tetrachloride.
