New approach to relaxation data analysis in polyhydric alcohols

Abstract

In this work, experimental data on dielectric permittivity in the frequency range from 1 MHz to 36 GHz and in the temperature range from 283 to 423 K for 1,3-, 1,4- and 2,3-butanediols are analysed. Some relations between parameters of Davidson & Cole equation and molecular structure of butanediols under consideration have been found. Mean values of dipole moments of molecular clusters, <mc>, have been calculated in the framework of Dissado & Hill cluster theory. Dependence of <mc> on energy parameters of this model has been revealed and discussed.
