HPLC-MS identification of products of difenoconazole electrochemical oxidation in solutions

Abstract

Products of electrochemical transformations of organic compounds, especially their oxidation, are similar in many respects to products of their chemical reactions. The information on nature and formation mechanisms of such products is important for pesticides, because it allows characterizing the mechanisms of their decomposition in soil, aquatic environments and plants. A set of electrochemical transformations processes of the pesticide difenoconazole [cis-,trans-1-((2-(2-chloro-4-(4-chlorophenoxy)phenyl)-4-methyl-1,3-dioxolan-2-yl)methyl)-1H-1,2,4-triazole] in its solution in aqueous organic medium [mixture of aqueous solution of ammonium formate (pH 7.4) and acetonitrile (3: 1 v/v)] with concentration 100 g/mL and the results of HPLC-ESI-MS-MS identification of the products are considered. It has been revealed that oxidation products formed with the participation of an aliphatic fragment of the molecule predominate in the mixture of the difenoconazole electrolysis products.
Key words: Pesticides, difenoconazole, electrochemical processes, hydrolysis, oxidation and reduction, identification of products.
