ABSTRACT. The displacement of dodecane from vertical capillaries with modified surface by water was studied. Dependencies of the contact angles with selective wetting on the time of preliminary contact of dodecane with capillary walls, length of dodecane column, depth of capillary immersion into water, and formation technique of the interfacial meniscus (under advancing or receding conditions) were obtained. Calculations of the hysteresis ?12 angles was made for each case, and the effect of the capillary surface on the hysteresis pattern and its value was demonstrated.
