ABSTRACT. The opto-acoustic (OA) detection in combination with both the visible luminescence observation and the gas chromatographic analysis is used for the study of the multiphoton excitation (MPE) of the molecules in the gas phase beside and above the dissociation limit. The method of receiving of quantitative date is analysed on the basis of the physical peculiarities of OA signal formation under the high levels of the excitation. As examples are considered the experiments on the MPE of ethene by the radiation of CO2 picosecond laser (lg I w / cm2 = 12) showing signficant excess (about 3 times) of absorbed energy above the dissociation limit, as well as the studies of nonstatistical vibrational energy distribution under the MPE of the elementoorganic compounds, showing the blocking heavy atom (Ge) effect.
