November 1991 - Present
Advisor: Professor Michael G. Kuzmin

Acid-base lipophylic fluorescent probes were synthesized. Fluorescent spectroscopy and single-photon counting method (nanosecond resolution) are being used to investigate kinetics of excited-state proton transfer reactions in organized surfactant assemblies.

University of Helsinki,
Dept. of Physical Chemistry,
Lab. of Photochemistry,
Helsinki, Finland.
November - December, 1993
Kinetics of excited-state proton transfer reactions in vesicles and LB-films were investigated using single-photon counting method with picosecond resolution were studied in the laboratory of the Associated Professor Helge Lemmetyinen.

New York University
Dept. of Chemistry
Radiation and Solid State Laboratory
New York City
February-August, 1995
Covalent adducts of polynuclear aromatic compounds with DNA were synthesized, HPLC purified and characterized by various optical methods in the Laboratory of the Professor Nicholas Geacintov. Mechanism of fluorescence quenching of aromatic hydrocarbons by nucleic acid bases was investigated by steady- state and time-resolved fluorescence techniques in NYU Laser Laboratory of the professor Scott Courtney.
