IR-spectra of gallium atoms – iodine molecules reaction products in solid argon

Abstract

Gallium atoms – iodine molecules co-condensation reaction in solid argon have been studied by IR-spectra. Most of the bands observed have been assigned to the stretching vibrations in tri-, di- and monoiodide. Both the intensity relation and semiempirical estimates indicate that valence angle should be no more than 110° in gallium diiodide.
