Chromatofocusing of metal ions on chelating sorbent tetren-SiO2 using the simple eluents

Abstract

The simple eluents, consisting of tri- or tetrabasic acids solutions (citric and pyromellytic acids and a number of complexon acids – nitriltriacetic (NTA), ethylenediaminetetraacetic (EDTA), cyclohexane-1,2-diamine-N,N,N,N-tetraacetic (CDTA)) or their two-component mixtures were applied in the first time for chromatofocusing of metal ions on chelating sorbent Tetren-SiO2 (Silohrom S-120 c with bonded tetraethylene pentamine groups). The smoother, quasi-linear pH gradients were formed for eluents, consisting of citric acid and EDTA mixture. The separation of Mn2+, Cr3+, Co2+ and Ni2+ were achieved using the simple two-component eluent.
Key words: chromatofocusing, internal pH gradient, chelating sorbent, simple eluent, separation of metal ions.
